Maundy Thursday (April 17) Pastoral Prayer

April 17, 2025 (Maundy Thursday)
Beulah UMC & Oak Grove UMC

God of grace, thank you for this special night where we are invited to come clean by giving you all of our shame, all of our brokenness, and all of our regrets, and be made new again.

Like Jesus’ disciples who betrayed, denied, and turned their backs on him, we too have our share of times when we have not lived up to what it means to be your faithful followers. As we prepare to come forward to receive the Sacrament of Holy Communion, we are humbled to know that all are welcome to come clean and receive your forgiving, healing, and saving grace.

And on this holy night, we lift up to you those who are on our hearts and minds. Remind them that you are present with them just as much as you are present with us this night. Thank you for your faithfulness and your unconditional love made know to us through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.

God of grace, tonight we ask that you take our bread, take our hearts, take our lives, because we are yours, we are yours.

We pray this in the name of Jesus who not only invites us to his table tonight, but who also invites us to come clean by praying this prayer that he taught us to say together…

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
