Sunday (June 1/Ascension Sunday) Pastoral Prayer

June 1, 2025 (Ascension Sunday)
Beulah UMC & Oak Grove UMC

Lord Jesus, this is our prayer for today. Move each one of us to do thy will.

Move us to share our faith with others. Move us to provide for those who are in need. Move us to take that next step of faith. Move us to comfort the afflicted. Move us to be a blessing to each person we meet.

In this moment of worship, move us to offer prayers for the many people who are on our hearts and minds this day. We pray for the many people on our church’s prayer list as well as others we lift up to you this day. We pray for your guiding, gracious, and healing presence to surround each of these persons and needs.

And Lord, we pray for our own needs as well. If we are feeling weak, strengthen us. If we are feeling sad, comfort us. If we are feeling lost, guide us. If we are feeling broken, heal us. If we are feeling anxiety, calm us. We we are feeling worried, reassure us. If we are feeling lonely, surround us. If we are feeling tired, empower us.

Remind us this morning, as we prepare to receive the Sacrament of Holy Communion that through your life, death, and resurrection, you have done absolutely everything that is needed for us to live out our faith.

Risen Lord, move us, move us, move us, to be your hands and feet. As your empowered and equipped disciples, we now pray this prayer that you taught us to say together…

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
