Sunday (July 13) Pastoral Prayer

July 13, 2025
Beulah UMC & Oak Grove UMC

Lord, thank you for this great big world that is filled with people of different languages, skin colors, cultures, histories, religions, nations, and backgrounds. Remind us that we are all fellow human beings that you have created in your image. There is no “they.” There’s only “us.”

We shall overcome someday because as the last verse of our prayer hymn will remind us, “the Lord will see us through.” Only you can help us to appreciate and respect each other’s many differences and help us to overcome our stereotypes and prejudices.

This morning, we not only prayer for your help to overcome the many barriers that can so easily divide us, but we also pray for people on our hearts and minds this morning who are seeking to overcome whatever challenges they may be facing. We pray for those who are in need of healing, who are grieving, and who are in need of your comfort and reassurance. O Lord, we pray that you would see them through whatever difficult situation they may be facing. We lift up all of these needs to you.

And we also prayer for our divided communities, our divided nation, and our divided world. Help us to appreciate the incredible gift that we all get to share this great big planet together.

Thank you for how prayer has a way of bringing people together simply because it reminds us that we are all your children who have been created in your image. Even now, unite us as we join together in praying this prayer that you taught us to say together…

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
