Sunday (October 19) Pastoral Prayer

October 19, 2025

Beulah UMC & Oak Grove UMC

Loving and gracious God, thank you for preachers who week after week, proclaim the message that speak your wonderful words of life.

We thank you for sermons that praise you for puppy dogs and butterflies, but we also thank you just as equally for those sermons that step on our toes and force us to rethink what it means to be faithful disciples of Jesus.

Thank you for sermons that encourage us, that challenge us, that instruct us, that comfort us, that discomfort us, and most importantly, that proclaim the message of the good news of Jesus Christ. Thank you, O God for your wonderful words of life.

We pray that your wonderful words of life would also speak to those who are on our hearts and minds this day, including the people on our church’s prayer list. May your healing, guiding, protecting, comforting, and gracious words of life be a blessing to all of these persons and needs.

And today, we especially lift up to you our Beulah and Oak Grove United Methodist Churches as we meet this afternoon at Northeast United Methodist Church for our annual Charge Conference meeting and prepare for a new year of ministry.

Lead us to always be a church that sets a culture where your overflowing love and grace welcomes all people, where we grow in what it means to be a church of prayer and pursuing godly lives that are filled with faith, love, endurance, and gentleness, where we daily seek to rekindle our faith, where we always seek to remember Jesus in all that we say and do, and a church that eagerly proclaims the message of your saving grace.

We offer all this prayer in the name of Jesus who taught us to pray these wonderful words of life together, the Lord’s Prayer. Let us pray…

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
