Sunday (April 5/Easter) Pastoral Prayer

April 5, 2026 (Easter Sunday)
Beulah UMC & Oak Grove UMC

O God, thank you for your wondrous empty tomb! Thank you for meeting us on this Easter morning with the news that Jesus is risen! Thank you for meeting us at the top of a cold and blustery cemetery hill with the warmth of your resurrection presence. Thank you for your wondrous cross on which the Prince of Glory died and who now lives and reigns with you in glory.

Whenever we struggle with the darkness of grief, sorrow, and heartache, remind us to survey your wondrous empty tomb. Whenever we feel lost, discouraged, or broken, remind us to survey your wondrous empty tomb. Whenever the darkness of our lives overwhelms us, remind us to survey your wondrous empty tomb.

On this Day of Resurrection, we pray for those who are going through a time of darkness in their lives. May your healing, guiding, comforting, assuring, and gracious light shine upon them in whatever they may be facing. Wherever there is darkness in this world, let their be light. Let their be your light. Let there be Easter light.

Thank you that you walk with us, you talk with us, and you tell us we are your own. And now, as your Easter people, we pray the words that Jesus taught his disciples and now invites us to pray together…

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
