O God, thank you for those people in our lives who know when to remind us to let it go. And thank you for those times when we wisely say to someone to let go because through it all, through it all, we’ve learned to trust in Jesus, and we’ve learned to trust in you.
Today, and as we do every Sunday, we let it go by coming to you in prayer. There’s just something about handing over to you our worries, our concerns, and our problems, that helps us to experience your peace which passes all understanding.
And so, we in these new few moments, we silently hand over to you whatever it may be that is troubling our hearts this day, trusting that you will care for these needs in only the way that you can. [PAUSE]
We also lift up to you the people on our church’s prayer list as well as others in need of healing, comfort, wisdom, and assurance. Bless each of these needs, O God and as we pray for them in this moment of silence, may they experience your grace and peace.
On this weekend in which we celebrate our nation’s independence, we especially pray for our national, state, and local political leaders that they would find ways to make our nation and our world a better place where there is liberty and justice for all.
We pray all of this in the name of Jesus who taught us to trust God as we pray these words together…
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
