Lord, sometimes our prayer hymn expresses what we often experience when we are facing a very challenging time in our lives. We feel shackled by a heavy burden.
Take whatever burden that we may be shackled to this day and remind us of this morning’s message from the prophet, Isaiah that we’ll get through this. We’ll get through this because we are your vine and you have planted us. We’ll get through this because we know you can make us whole again.
And so, we offer to you whatever has us all tangled up in the thorns and briars of life. Prune away all that would keep us from being the growing vineyard that you have called us to be. Prune away our doubts, our fears, and those areas of our lives where we find it difficult to trust that you will indeed see us through and lead us into a brighter future. And grant us patience because sometimes there is a lot that needs to be pruned in our lives.
And this morning, we especially lift up to you the people on our church’s prayer list as well as others that are on our hearts and minds this day. May they each know of your abiding presence with them. Touch them with your healing, guiding, loving, and comforting presence and grant them your strength in facing whatever challenges they may be experiencing.
And thank you for the prophets, like Isaiah who seem to always have just the right message that we need to hear. You will see us through because only you can make us whole.
We pray this in the name of Jesus who taught us this prayer to say especially whenever we need to remember today’s message from heaven. Let us pray…
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
