Sunday (August 3) Pastoral Prayer

August 3, 2025
Beulah UMC & Oak Grove UMC

Gracious God, thank you for being our loving parent. You created us in your image. You have saved us from our sins. And you promise to continue to love us throughout our lives. We couldn’t ask for a better heavenly parent than you.

Whenever we forget just how much you love us, remind us of our prayer hymn. “Jesus loves me this I know. Jesus loves me still today.” And you always will.

Thank you for Holy Communion which will again remind us that you not only love us but that you gave everything by sending us Jesus to save and redeem us from our sins.

Today, we especially pray for anyone who could use an extra reminder that you love them. Maybe it’s a family member, a neighbor, the person we met at the store, or someone else we may know who is struggling to feel loved and to be loved. May each one of us be your witnesses of just how much you love us and want to be in a relationship with us.

We pray that the people on our prayer list would also be reminded that they are loved. May your healing, guiding, comforting and gracious presence be with each of them this day. And we thank you for the holy privilege to lift them up to you in this time of prayer. What a sacred and important responsibility you have entrusted to us, to pray for each other.

Remind us especially today on this Holy Communion Sunday that Christ has died, Christ is risen, and Christ will come again. We pray this in the name of Jesus who taught us to pray together…

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
