Sunday (August 24) Pastoral Prayer

August 24, 2025
Beulah UMC & Oak Grove UMC

O God, thank you for these prayer hymns that have catchy choruses that are easy to remember and sing through the week. “Only trust him, only trust him, only trust him now. He will save you, he will save you, he will save you now.”

When you call us to fulfill a task, remind us to only trust you. When we are facing a challenging time in our lives, remind us to only trust you. When our hearts are broken and we are weighed down with anxious thoughts, remind us to only trust you.

And then, remind us why we only need to trust you, because you will save us, you will save us, you will save us now.

And we also lift up to you the people on our prayer list and so many others who are on our hearts and minds this morning, that they too, would remember to trust you in whatever they may be facing.

With this beginning of a new school year, we especially pray for our young people, as well as teachers, professors, and administrators. And may this be a year of learning and growth for all of us as we all seek to make a difference in our community and world.

Thank you for these past two Sundays in learning more about Isaiah and Jeremiah and the messages from heaven that you gave to them to share with your people. These are messages that also help us to live out our faith, to do all the good we can to all the people we can, that you will help us get through any challenge that we may be facing, and today’s message, that you are more than able to help us to do what you have called us us to do.

We pray this in the name of Jesus who is the truth and the way that leads to rest, and who calls us to only trust him as we pray this prayer that he taught us to say together…

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
