Remember the varsity letters and jackets people wore during
high school? When you “lettered” in a sport or activity that meant that you
were an important part of the team.
Beginning Sunday, July 12 and throughout the summer, I will
be preaching a series on “A Varsity Faith” based on the Letter of Ephesians
in the New Testament. We will be reflecting on what it means to letter in
worship, Christian unity, Christian growth, spiritual gifts, kindness, a
spirit-filled Life, and prayer. These are the key topics that Paul highlights
in his letter to the Christians at Ephesus.
For the first Sunday of the series, I will be wearing my
high school varsity jacket during the sermon. I would like to wear a different
varsity jacket each week for the following Sundays to help emphasize our
“Varsity Faith” summer worship theme.
Contact the church office before the series begins to let us
know if you would be willing to allow your new pastor to wear your varsity
jacket for one of the Sundays. I would be honored!
Together, may we grow in having a varsity level type of
faith.
Please Lord, may it
not be in the 90’s with high humidity during these Sundays. Amen.
