O Lord, what a simple prayer that is. “Lord, we want to be a
Christian in our heart, in our heart.” May this be true for each of us on this
Transfiguration Sunday.
Help us to be shining examples of your love in all that we
say and do. When people meet us grieving, may they go away rejoicing because of
your love that shines in our hearts.
Thank you for the opportunities that we have everyday to be
share your love with the people we meet. We especially thank you for Kappa Phi
and for how they are a shining example of your love on campus and here in our
community.
We lift up to you those who are facing different kinds of
darkness in their lives…for the young man who is looking for work, for the
father whose heart aches for his son, for woman facing surgery, for the student
who is still unsure of her major, for the soldier who is serving in harm’s way,
for the worship guest who is searching for a church home, and for the church
member who is trying to decide if she will join one of the new small groups.
O Lord, no matter what darkness or decisions we may face,
help us to remember this special Sunday when Christ was transfigured on the
mountain. May the light of Christ shine brightly on all of your people, and may
it lead us to offer you worship and praise.
And now with the confidence of the children of God, we pray
the words that you have taught us, The Lord’s Prayer…
“Our Father, who art in heaven…”
