Sunday (January 4/Epiphany Sunday) Pastoral Prayer

January 4, 2026 (Epiphany Sunday)

Beulah UMC & Oak Grove UMC

God of mystery and wonder, thank you for these twelve days of Christmas in which we have been celebrating the birth of Christ, our Savior. And we also thank you for this Epiphany Sunday and for the Wise Men who made the long journey in seeking out the newborn King. As the saying goes, “Wise Men still seek him.”

And so, as we begin this new calendar year, teach us what it means to be curious about our faith, to ask questions, to ponder, to learn, and to grow. And may this year of holy seeking lead us again and again into your presence where we offer to you our gifts and experience your overwhelming joy.

In this time of prayer, we lift up to you people on our hearts and minds who are in need of your presence including those on our church’s prayer list as well as other prayer needs spoken and unspoken.

And we lift up to you our own needs as well as any hopes or fears we may have as we begin this New Year. Just as we sang each Sunday during the Season of Advent, may our prayer always be, “Emmanuel, Emmanuel, God with us, revealed in us, your name is called Emmanuel.”

We offer this prayer in the name of Jesus who is our Emmanuel and who taught us to pray together…

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
